Prior to Grygiel’s career in private practice, he was the Director of the Arthur Levitt Public Policy Center at Hamilton College, where he taught First Amendment and constitutional law.

Hurst represents media clients in cases involving access to judicial proceedings and records and other public access matters, and manages the response and opposition to reporter’s and newspaper subpoenas issued in criminal and civil cases and arbitral tribunals across the country. He also defends a wide variety of clients against defamation, invasion of privacy and other newsgathering and publication-related claims. His expertise further extends to the prosecution and defense of products disparagement, false advertising, copyright infringement and unfair business practices claims, including motions for preliminary and other injunctive relief.

Their litigation experience and broad knowledge of media law will provide clients with comprehensive, thorough service,” said Alan Mansfield, Chair of the New York Litigation Practice and a Shareholder in the firm’s New York City office.
Grygiel earned his B.A. from Hamilton College and his J.D. from Temple University School of Law. Hurst earned his B.A. from the State University of New York College at New Paltz and his J.D. from Albany Law School of Union University.
