The event was held at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina from Oct. 22-24.
Mountain Magic is one of the NCAJ’s premier Continuing Legal Education (CLE) events, with topics ranging from product liability and workers’ compensation law to predatory lending and civil rights issues.

Sean Cole is extremely active in the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ). He recently received an Order of Service Award from the organization for his contributions to advancing its mission of protecting people’s rights. Other James Scott Farrin attorneys who recently received the award are James S. Farrin, Michael Jordan, J. Stewart Clontz and Rick Fleming who is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Social Security Disability Law. The firm as a whole is a member of the Leader’s Forum, the highest level of firm financial contribution recognized by the NCAJ.
Sean Cole’s current service to the NCAJ includes membership on the Education Committee and is the Listserve Security Officer for the Auto Torts Executive Committee. In addition, he was Editor in Chief of the NCAJ’s newly released North Carolina Manual of Complaints – 3rd Ed. Over the years, he has presented at more than a dozen NCAJ Continuing Legal Education programs.

An accomplished attorney, Sean Cole has earned an AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review system – the highest rating available – and the designation of “Rising Star” by North Carolina Super Lawyers. To be selected for Super Lawyers, attorneys must undergo a rigorous, multiphase process which combines peer nominations with third-party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. The applications of surviving candidates are then rated on a scale of one to 10 by an expert panel of attorneys from their practice area. Selections are made annually on a state-by-state basis.
NCAJ was formed more than 45 years ago as a nonprofit, nonpartisan association dedicated to protecting people's rights through professional and community legal education, championing individual rights, and protecting the safety of North Carolina's families.
Mountain Magic is one of two large events held by the NCAJ yearly – one on the coast and one in the mountains. These events are designed to provide convenient high-level educational opportunities to attorneys who practice outside the urban centers of the Triangle, Triad and Charlotte.
“The clients represented by attorneys in the mountains and the coast are as important to NCAJ as clients from downtown Raleigh and downtown Durham,” Sean Cole said.
