DBLG Announces Release 1.0 of the HITECH Act Survival Guide: an Open Source Law Initiative

Health care providers and facilities face complex challenges in dealing with compliance issues presented by the HITECH Act and its new enforcement regime.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) February 1, 2010 -- The Digital Business Law Group (DBLG) co-authored the HIPAA Survival Guide with Deborah Leyva, RN, BSN, a healthcare and technology thought leader. Given the expanding influence of the HITECH Act on regulations beyond HIPAA, DBLG felt it could better serve the growing needs of the healthcare industry by expanding the scope of the original guide. The HIPAA Survival Guide is now a subset of the HITECH Survival Guide.

DBLG is pleased to announce Release 1.0 of the HITECH Survival Guide, which is now available and fully clickable online. In addition to the existing content our readers have come to rely on, Release 1.0 contains HHS' recently announced interim final rules regarding HIT Standards and EHR Incentives. DBLG also distributes a FREE HITECH Compliance Newsletter, which keeps our readers informed regarding HITECH Act Regulations and their impact on the quickly evolving healthcare compliance and technology landscape.

Carlos Leyva, Managing Shareholder of DBLG, says: "DBLG continues to innovate with this release. Like Google Scholar, we are committed to making U.S. law freely available to all stakeholders. However, the HITECH Survival Guide provides readers with much more than just access to relevant legal authority in a web friendly navigation scheme. It is an information appliance, with commentary embedded in the appropriate context and with links to other high quality HITECH content, including videos on topics of interest related to the Act. Future releases will significantly increase the educational resources available to readers."

The HITECH Act embodies a convergence between law, policy, and technology. Nowhere is this more evident than in HHS' recently released interim final rule regarding HIT Standards. This rule represents the codification of technology standards into law under the authority of the Act. DBLG expects this trend to continue as enabling technologies mandate a multi disciplinary approach to complex regulatory issues. Release 1.0 addresses the convergence challenge by providing readers with tools that allow them to more effectively attack the learning curve.
