Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 Introduces Support for Android Devices and 10 Innovative Improvements

One of world's most popular forensic tools introduces Android devices support and several revolutionary features that will change how forensic investigators collect digital evidence from cell phones.

Moscow, Russia (PRWEB) November 13, 2009 -- Oxygen Software today announces Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010, the world’s most technologically advanced and versatile tool for forensic extraction of data from more than 1.500 models of mobile devices. Innovative new features that make data extraction more powerful include support for Android-based smart phones, extraction of data from “locked” Windows Mobile smart phones, redesigned file browser, improved Geo-event positioning, full antivirus compatibility and other features.

“Oxygen Forensic Suite is widely praised as a technological tour-de-force in the mobile forensic software and today we are taking another big step forward to make it even better,” says Oleg Fedorov, CEO of Oxygen Software.
Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 includes the following key new features and improvements:
- New Google Android support. Oxygen Software is leading the cell phone forensics industry in implementing support for smart phones on the entirely new class of platforms, Google Android. Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 has incorporated extraction of data from Android-based smart phones, including phonebook, calls, messages, calendar events, camera shots and documents. The new version also enables the investigator to track every action, made by the owner using Phone Activity module, which pulls messages, calls and calendar events from all sections of the phone and recreates the list of events in the chronologically organized order, which is convenient for the investigator to review. Mini-maps with GPS coordinates are now available for Android devices too. Android-based smart phone sales had a successful takeoff, and 20 new models are scheduled for release until the end of 2009. So, support for Android forensics in Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 comes timely and will satisfy the future demand of forensic experts.

- New Windows Mobile features. Continuing Oxygen’s commitment to Windows Mobile handhelds, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 delivers three new features. Firstly, the program now extracts forensic data from “locked” smart phones, which, by default, do not allow access to data due to a high level of security. Secondly, the program can extract messages from custom folders, created by the user. Practice shows users often create custom folders to store messages categorized by topic, rather than keep them all in the INBOX folder. Thirdly, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 lets the user extract emails and attachments along with full message headers, containing information on message routing, which also represents valuable information for a forensic expert.

- New File Browser. Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 features a new file browser that has been redesigned completely from the ground up. The browser comes with filter tabs for easier and more intuitive browsing. The user clicks on the tabs to flip through information easily and group it by different types, such as images, video, documents, applications and files with geographic coordinates. For even more convenience, the investigator can also create new custom tabs with the required filter and customize existing tabs to personal preferences. The browser also filters files by storage folder using the folder tree. For files with geo-coordinates, the program displays a mini-map of the place where the picture has been taken.

- Enhanced Geo-event positioning. Geo-event positioning in Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 is another killer feature, which does not fail to impress. With the improved algorithm in the recent release, it provides the investigator with precise GPS coordinates of the phone owner when he received, or sent SMS, took a snapshot, recorded a video. The coordinates are mapped on Google Maps, letting the investigator actually view where the event occurred.

Other new features include support for iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1 and 3.1.1, extraction of attachments from emails, full compatibility with antivirus software. Some antiviruses used to flag installation of the earlier versions as harmful due to false positives. In the current release, this problem has been fixed. These and above mentioned features will change how forensic investigators collect digital evidence from cell phones.

“Oxygen Forensic Suite is widely praised as a technological tour-de-force in the mobile forensic software and today we are taking another big step forward to make it even better,” says Oleg Fedorov, CEO of Oxygen Software. “I welcome you to our website and discover first-hand how Oxygen Forensic Suite 2010 will transform the way you collect digital evidence.”
