PSA-TEC Marks 30th Anniversary with Record-Setting Industry Participation

The 2010 PSA-TEC event celebrated its 30th anniversary on May 24-28, 2010 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, the event experienced record-setting industry participation.

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) June 9, 2010 -- As this year’s PSA-TEC event celebrated its 30th anniversary on May 24-28, 2010 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, the event experienced record-setting industry participation. The overall number of security professionals in attendance at PSA-TEC was 921, a 31% rise over 2009. This growth can be attributed to the opening of the event beyond the PSA membership and the new Rosemont location, allowing industry professionals in the Chicago area to easily come for the day to source the latest products in the exhibit hall. With 125 exhibitors and 20,000 square feet, the exhibit hall was 44% larger than 2009.

“We are pleased with the success of the 2010 event,” said Bill Bozeman, CPP, CHS, president and CEO of the PSA Security Network®, “By opening the event to the entire industry and moving the location to Rosemont, we were able to attract a larger audience of security professionals, with growth rates unmatched by any other event in the industry - while at the same time maintaining the unmatched training and peer-to-peer networking opportunities, which have become hallmarks of PSA-TEC.”

This year’s conference program offered over 136 sessions and 400 hours of cutting-edge training seminars for security systems integrators across three tracks of Business Optimization, IT, and Physical Security. Highlights of the program included a session on the “Economic Outlook for the Electronic Security Industry,” presented by Jeff Kessler of Imperial Capital, as well as a “State of the Industry” panel where industry leaders representing PSA Security Network, Security Network of America (SNA), Security Industry Association (SIA), 1nservice, BICSI, and National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) discussed current and future market trends, convergence, and strategic partnerships.

One of the features of the event was a keynote by Jeffrey “Skunk” Baxter, sponsored by Samsung Security. As a former guitarist for the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, and current consultant on national security matters, Baxter shared his experiences and insights on “Asymmetrical Thinking in a Conventional World” to a packed room of attendees. He drew parallels from his work with the government to the work by the system integrator community by emphasizing the importance of situational awareness in both roles, and challenged the audience to educate their customers on situational awareness as a complement to the security systems they install.

Networking events included a welcome reception in the exhibit hall on Tuesday afternoon, the PSA Vendor Appreciation Awards breakfast on Wednesday morning, and the Fourth Annual PSA-TEC Jam Session on Wednesday evening. This year’s Jam Session, sponsored by Bosch Security Systems, once again showcased the musical talents of the security community as singers, drummers, and guitarists from within the industry joined New Orleans-born singer Johnny Barbato on stage for a night of rock music.
