Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 22, 2010 -- The personal injury law office of Childers, Schlueter & Smith of Atlanta, GA, today announced that they have filed suit at the State Court of Fulton County, Georgia on behalf of their client, Rafael Rios, against Atlanta Botanical Garden and several companies involved in the construction of the elevated walkway that collapsed at the gardens December 19, 2008 (Fulton State Court case number 10EV010241J). The walkway, also called a "skywalk," is situated at the Storza Woods section of the world-famous Botanical Garden. Although the walk was slated to open in spring 2009, the accident delayed its opening until April 2010.
Mr. Rios was working as a laborer for a concrete firm on the project. On the morning of December 19, 2008, he and his crew were pouring concrete over the structure frame that had already been erected for the walkway. During concrete pouring, the structure collapsed, killing one worker and seriously injuring 18 others, of whom Mr. Rios was one. The men fell an estimated 30 feet to the damp hillside.
"It’s difficult to understand why this case needs to be litigated. Clearly, the Defendants failed to provide a safe work environment for my client and his coworkers" |
