Attorney Bennett was asked to serve on this Committee and to oversee the function of the Museum’s library due to his extensive expertise in the field of employment law. The Portland Museum of Art is the largest and oldest art museum in the state of Maine. Peter Bennett is nationally recognized as a leader representing management in the field of labor and employment law. He is a past Chair of the American Bar Association’s 35,000 member Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section. He has given in excess of 200 law-related lectures in over twenty states, and has taught personnel law at the University of Southern Maine since 1989. He is currently serving as Dean of the 2009/2010 ABA TIPS Leadership Academy, and is also a member of the ABA’s Task Force on Federal Preemption of State Law and the ABA’s Standing Committee on Judicial Independence.
