Cox Smith has established an Of Counsel relationship with Tom Forbes and Robert Peeler, founders of Longbow Partners, a newly-formed public affairs and strategic consulting firm based in Austin.
Austin, TX (PRWEB) April 29, 2010 -- Cox Smith Matthews Incorporated (“Cox Smith”) today announced it has established an Of Counsel relationship with Tom Forbes and Robert Peeler, founders of Longbow Partners, LLP, a newly-formed public affairs and strategic consulting firm based in Austin.
Tom Forbes brings a wealth of experience and relationships to Cox Smith. His practice is principally focused on strategic advice and advocacy on legislative and public affairs issues. For the past 34 years, he has represented clients before state and federal regulatory agencies, the Texas Legislature, the U.S. Congress, various state and federal executive departments, and other state governments. A graduate of Southwestern University and Baylor University School of Law, he is a Trustee of Southwestern University, a director of the Austin Trust Company, and a principal in Aberdeenshire, LLC, a private investment firm. Forbes previously chaired the State Legislation Committee, Sunset Review Committee, and the Administrative Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He has served in the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates and is a member of numerous ABA, State Bar and Austin Bar Association committees. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Government Affairs and recently completed a term on the ABA Latin American Law Initiatives Council. He is also a Life Fellow of both the Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation.
“I have known Tom for many years and I’m enthusiastic about being able to offer Tom’s and Robert’s services to our clients when they have public affairs and government relations needs,” said Jamie Smith, managing director of Cox Smith. “This association reinforces our presence in Austin, provides a broader state and federal government relations capability for our clients, and supplements and complements the government relations work that Karen Neeley is already doing for the firm’s financial services clients.”
“We founded Longbow Partners to offer a full range of public affairs advice and advocacy services to our clients,” said Tom Forbes, co-founder of Longbow Partners. “Our relationship with Cox Smith increases our ability to effectively serve our clients’ other legal needs, whether litigation-related or transactional. Conversely, we believe we can help existing Cox Smith clients with legislative and public affairs matters not only in Texas but on a national basis. This alliance has significant benefits for our clients and permits us to offer a wider range of services in an efficient and seamless manner.”
