Messaging Architects’ M+Archive Indispensable for Texas City ISD’s Cost-Effective and Easy Migration to Exchange

By using M+Archive for their transition from GroupWise to Exchange, Texas City ISD was able to leverage the savings from not having to invest into a separate migration tool to extend the email system refresh beyond the original scope of the project. M+Archive allowed them to meet the need to migrate and enable a deployment policy for centralized email retention and electronic discovery.

Montreal, Canada (Vocus/PRWEB ) March 10, 2010 -- Messaging Architects, global experts in email risk management, announced today that Texas City Independent School District used M+Archive, its solution for cross-platform email archiving, compliance, and eDiscovery, for a cost-effective and easy migration from GroupWise to Exchange. As an added benefit, M+Archive enabled Texas City to meet the school district’s mandate for centralized email retention and electronic discovery with no additional licensing costs.

"By using M+Archive for our transition to Exchange and not having to spend on a single-use migration tool, we were able to do more with less,” said Steve Shields, Director of Technology at Texas City ISD. “In addition to a new email system, we also have centralized email retention and electronic discovery. M+Archive made it a simple process providing better functionality and return for my investment."

The project only took a couple of days of prep-work on server installation, storage information collection, and planning. The Messaging Architects email risk management experts prepared a blueprint for the migration; one of the essential goals of the migration plan was no interruptions to the school district’s daily operations.

M+Archive offered a simple and efficient way of moving the data from GroupWise to Exchange. First, the messages in the GroupWise system were archived to a centralized M+Archive repository. Next, depending on the roles and responsibilities of the users, specific amount email data was injected from the GroupWise to the live Exchange system. Finally, once all the data was moved out of GroupWise, the Exchange system was pointed to the M+Archive repository so the archiving process could continue in the new environment.
The end result was: day-to-day operations were not disrupted and the system switch was executed successfully on the weekend. For the end users the transition was virtually seamless: even though they changed email clients, they were in no way hindered in accessing their archives, regardless of whether they were in GroupWise or Exchange.
