Teamwork and community involvement are two values that are at the core of Greenberg Traurig's culture
The Legal Food Frenzy is a two-week long friendly competition among the Virginia and Washington, D.C. legal communities designed to raise food and funds for Virginia's food banks during a traditionally slow period for donations. The 2009 competition was held March 30 through April 10. The donations by Greenberg Traurig and friends of the firm will be used to provide nearly 50,000 meals.

"Teamwork and community involvement are two values that are at the core of Greenberg Traurig's culture," said Mark J. Wishner, co-managing partner of Greenberg Traurig's Tysons Corner office. "These values were exemplified by the response of our employees to the Legal Food Frenzy. Attorneys and staff members in the Tysons Corner office worked hand-in-hand with our colleagues in Washington, D.C. to provide assistance to the less fortunate in our communities. Every morning for two weeks, our employees, many of whom have long train or bus commutes, brought heavy cans and boxes of food with them to the office to help increase the firm's contribution to the food drive."

Virginia E. Robinson, an associate in Greenberg Traurig's Tysons Corner office, has served as the Northern Virginia Chair since the competition began in 2007.

All contributions of food and money collected by during Legal Food Frenzy go to the Capital Area Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) organization providing food to more than 700 partner agencies in the area. Each dollar donated counts as four pounds of food. Firms can also receive bonus pounds for delivering donations to the food bank.

"The attorneys and staff of the Washington, D.C. and Tysons Corner offices brought the same dedication and collaborative spirit to the Legal Food Frenzy competition that they always bring to bear on behalf of firm clients," said Ronald W. Kleinman, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig's Washington, D.C. office. "We worked very hard for this important cause and look forward to participating in the competition again next year."

Greenberg Traurig reached out to several colleagues outside of the legal community, who also made their own contributions to the Legal Food Frenzy. These included: The Palm Restaurant, PepsiCo Corp., Starbucks Corp., Morton's The Steakhouse, Saint Germain Catering, and The Daily Grill.
