Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) June 1, 2010 -- Christian & Small, a long-time supporter of the Smith Scholarship Foundation, was awarded the Smith Scholarship Sponsor’s Trophy. Eric Breithaupt (http://www.csattorneys.com/attorney_breithaupt_e.html ) and Robert Harris (http://www.csattorneys.com/attorney_harris_r.html) accepted the award on behalf of Christian & Small at the awards ceremony on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Birmingham’s Old Car Heaven.
The Sponsor’s Trophy is awarded to volunteers who provide unique or outstanding support to the Foundation or its scholars. The Sponsor’s Trophy was awarded to Christian & Small, who provided $40,000 to the Foundation budget to enable the Book Awards.
This year the Smith Scholarship Foundation awarded nine book scholarships in addition to 12 full scholarships. Presiding Federal District Judge Sharon Lovelace Blackburn beseeched the Foundation to permit additional Book Awards to provide books and mentoring to these additional students with the hope that economic conditions will improve enabling these students to qualify for additional Foundation funding in the future.
The Book Awards consists of up to $1,000 per year for four years for books, upon certification of C+ average, Freshman Bootcamp Seminar to assist in the transition into college, a Dorm Pack, Fall Professional Seminar, and professional attire.
