Each of the 100 individuals selected represent a unique and inspiring story of giving in some capacity, either on a large scale or through small everyday acts of kindness. The winning 100 HOMETOWN HEROES will be honored at a series of award events taking place in Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville. Starting June 16th, the HOMETOWN HEROES will appear at various community festivities, such as Fridays After Five in Charlottesville, the Heritage Festival in Fredericksburg, and at a series of Flying Squirrels baseball games at The Diamond in Richmond. A grand finale will be held on August 25th at a Richmond Flying Squirrels baseball game, at which time all 100 HOMETOWN HEROES will be recognized.
Schedule of Events:
June 16, 2010 -- One Greater Metro Richmond “All Star” will be honored at a Flying Squirrels baseball game.
July 3, 2010 -- Heroes from Fredericksburg will be honored at the Annual Heritage Festival.
July 9, 2010 -- Heroes from Charlottesville/Albemarle will be honored at Fridays After Five at the Charlottesville Pavilion.
July 16, 2010 -- One Petersburg “All Star” will be honored at a Flying Squirrels baseball game.
July 27, 2010 -- One Charlottesville “All Star” will be honored at a Flying Squirrels baseball game.
August 10, 2010 -- One Fredericksburg “All Star” will be honored at a Flying Squirrels baseball game.
August 25, 2010 -- All heroes will be celebrated at a grand finale at a Flying Squirrels baseball game. The evening will conclude with fireworks in our heroes’ honor.
