Customer statistics from one of the world's leading online titanium ring studios shows that single women shop for engagement rings before meeting the partner they hope to marry - or any partner, for that matter.
Kihei, HI (PRWEB) May 8, 2010 -- One of the world's leading titanium ring design studios, TiRings.com, has revealed evidence that shows a tendency among single women to shop for an engagement ring before actually finding a mate.
The data was obtained through a combination of backend website analytics and information provided voluntarily on customer inquiry forms. The data has been collected over a period of 10 years, from the hundreds of thousands of website visitors who have provided enough information to be included in it.
If this evidence is correct, there are a lot of women out there who already know exactly what kind of ring they want, and may even prefer to avoid the romantic cliche of being proposed to. |
"This phenomenon was apparent to anyone who's worked long enough in the industry. But thanks to computers, databases and the internet, we now have the statistics that show it really happens."
Half of all single women in the data who visited the website browsed primarily in the engagement ring section of the website. This observation led to more clues, eventually enabling TiRings.com to conclude that there is a tendency whereby women who shop for an engagement ring search for their perfect ring before they find their perfect mate.
While confidential data from other online jewelry retailers remains unavailable, Pless doubts their customer data would be any different, despite the fact that titanium is an exotic and relatively new jewelry metal.
Pless concedes that the evidence asks more questions than it answers: "A lot of guys might secretly buy an engagement ring and pop the question, which is the tradition. In which case, a woman choosing the ring beforehand would be pointless. Maybe the old traditions need to be rethinked?"
Whether such evidence is actually useful in an academic sense, or merely trivial, remains to be seen.
"Maybe the real takeaway from all this is that guys, or girls, should talk to their girlfriends before buying the engagement ring. If this evidence is correct, there are a lot of women out there who already know exactly what kind of ring they want, and may even prefer to avoid the romantic cliche of being proposed to."
