Rivet Software to Speak at Global GRI Conference in Amsterdam

Rivet Software to Address Sustainability Reporting and XBRL

Denver, CO (PRWEB) May 26, 2010 -- Rivet Software advisory board member, Stewart McKie, will be joining a distinguished panel of international leaders this week in Amsterdam to discuss how XBRL is transforming the way business information is reported and analyzed to create greater financial, environmental, social and governance (ESB) transparency. The session titled “Sustainability Reporting and XBRL – Learn about the Applications,” takes place on Thursday, May 27 at the Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency.

According to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), there is growing recognition that the current global economy is unstable and unfair due, in large part, to the vast amount of inaccessible business information. The Amsterdam GRI conference is gathering over 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries to work toward finding a new approach that uses more complete, accurate and transparent information to build a stronger, more sustainable global economy. Utilizing eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) in integrated side-by-side financial and sustainability reporting, is a key component of this goal because it transforms information into interactive data, making it more transparent, useful, comprehensive and easily analyzed.

Rivet Software was selected to present and participate in an interactive panel discussion on the lessons and challenges of integrated reporting transparency based on their expertise in the field of XBRL and their visionary perspective on the future of XBRL reporting. This session will give attendees an opportunity to learn more about how XBRL is drastically changing business information and the benefits that will come from non-financial, XBRL reporting.

“Rivet Software has worked for years to give business users better control over how their financial information is collected, analyzed and communicated,” said Patrick Quinlan, CEO of Rivet Software. “We are honored to participate in the GRI conference and we are excited to leverage our experience with financial reporting to empower companies to create one interactive report of financial, environmental, social and governance (ESB) information.”

The Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency is hosted by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). This network-based organization is focused on creating a sustainability reporting framework for companies world-wide. Through this framework, GRI provides guidelines organizations can use to measure and report their economic, environmental and social performance. Attendees represent expert policy and global decision makers from business, accounting, government and civil societies.
