The Legal Food Frenzy is a two-week long friendly competition among the Virginia and Washington, D.C. legal communities designed to raise food and funds for Virginia’s food banks during a traditionally slow period for donations. The donations by Greenberg Traurig attorneys, business staff and friends of the firm equaled more than 105,000 pounds of food.

“Greenberg Traurig is committed to regularly serving the people in our communities, through our pro bono efforts, our Philanthropic Fund, and local outreach efforts like this one,” said Mark J. Wishner, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Tysons Corner office.

Virginia E. Robinson, an associate in Greenberg Traurig’s Tysons Corner office, co-chairs the statewide event. She has also served as the Northern Virginia Chair since the competition began in 2007.

Food and money collected in the Northern Virginia region during the Legal Food Frenzy go to the Capital Area Food Bank. Each dollar donated counts as four pounds of food. Firms can also receive bonus pounds for delivering donations to the food bank.

“Our attorneys and staff not only brought heavy cans and boxes of food with them to the office to contribute to the food drive, but also raised over $20,000 to help local families,” said Laura M. Klaus, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Washington, D.C. office.

Greenberg Traurig reached out to colleagues outside of the legal community, who also made their own contributions to the Legal Food Frenzy. These included: The Palm Restaurant, PepsiCo Corp., Starbucks Corp., Diplomat Travel, and Celebrations Catering.
