Shelton, Conn. (PRWEB) April 27, 2010 -- Freedom Disability, a national Social Security Disability Advocacy group, is proud to extend its disability advocacy representation services to more than 2 million civilian disabled veterans. In response to feedback from our claimants, we are now providing expert help in applying for compensation benefits from the Veterans Administration (VA). Allen Gumpenberger, formerly of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), joins Freedom Disability as its Director of Veterans' Disability Advocacy.

Gumpenberger worked for the DAV in veterans' disability advocacy for nearly 13 years. He is an experienced and accredited veterans advocate, having completed over 2,300 hours of training from the DAV Structured and Continuing Training Program for National Service Officers, and is highly respected within the disabled veterans' community.

Gumpenberger is also a disabled veteran, having served in the Navy as a paralegal from 1994 to 1996. During that time, Gumpenberger received a Certificate of Commendation from the Regional Physical Evaluation Board for his legal service to disabled sailors, marines and their families, and for his compassion and dedication in obtaining the best possible result on their behalf.

"We are proud to extend our advocacy capabilities to disabled veterans," said Jon Mayhew, president of Freedom Disability. "We believe that our country's disabled veterans and their families have sacrificed enough. They deserve the very best representation to get the disability benefits they need as soon as possible from the Veterans Administration. We are very fortunate to have Allen head up our veterans' advocacy initiative."

To further our mission of serving people with disabilities, Freedom Disability will hire and train disabled veterans to become independently accredited disability advocates.

"It's an exciting prospect to hire veterans to help veterans," said Mayhew. "We have created a unique on-the-job advocacy training program with the support of the Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Service and are pleased to be starting our recruitment efforts."

"It's been an honor for me to advocate for my fellow disabled veterans over the years," said Gumpenberger. "However, I've seen bureaucracy at the VA become more complex. Vets without good representation are missing out on benefits that meet their unique needs. Organizations such as the DAV are so overwhelmed with claims that thousands of Vets are going without representation. I believe Vets deserve the best claims representation possible. My goal will be to develop a high-quality advocacy service to meet that need. Considering Freedom Disability's compassionate culture and vast advocacy experience, their support of this initiative gives us a tremendous opportunity to offer exceptional representation for disabled veterans never achieved before."

The Veterans Disability Advocacy initiative is in planning and development stages and will fully launch in the coming months.
