Lake Trust Credit Union Starts Construction on New South Lansing Branch

Increased member convenience and area economic boost among targets of LEED-certified branch

Lansing, MI (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 16, 2010 -- Lake Trust Credit Union CEO Stephan L. Winninger, President William J. Thiess and South Lansing Branch Manager Theresa Dubiel were joined by city and community representatives to break ground today on the site of the new South Lansing branch located on the former Brownfield site of Lansing’s long-abandoned Regent Inn.

The groundbreaking initiated the construction phase of the $1.5 billion organization’s state-of-the-art banking facility providing convenient access to teller and drive-thru services for Lake Trust Credit Union members.

Currently, Lake Trust Credit Union’s South Lansing branch is located in the Edgewood Shopping Center, less than one mile away from the new site. The new 5,000 square-foot branch will be easily accessible from Cedar Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, and I-96.

“South Lansing is one of Lake Trust Credit Union’s busiest branches - we serve about 15,000 members each month. With our new branch, members will enjoy a modern, comfortable space to do their banking. From the ongoing interest and enthusiasm we’ve seen, members have already adopted the new site – even before we broke ground today,” said South Lansing Branch Manager Theresa Dubiel.

The new LEED-certified branch is projected to open in late 2010 and is expected to provide an economic boost to the South Lansing area, a key commercial corridor in Michigan’s Capital City.

“Our members-first philosophy means providing the very best financial products and services to our members; but it also means supporting the communities where they live and work," said Thiess.

"Building this beautiful new branch less a mile away from our current location is an investment in people and a great opportunity to combine enhanced member service with community redevelopment,” said Winninger.

Lake Trust Credit Union, headquartered in Lansing, Michigan, was established in 2010 through a merger between NuUnion Credit Union (founded in 1952) and Detroit Edison Credit Union (founded in 1944). As Michigan’s fourth largest credit union, with more than $1.5 billion in assets and 22 branches, Lake Trust Credit Union stretches from Lake Michigan to Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Lake Trust Credit Union provides its more than 155,000 members best-in-class products and offers individualized trust-based member service.
