Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) February 2, 2010 -- Dr. Layne is a board certified family nurse practitioner with a clinical doctorate from Case Western Reserve University. She became a Diplomat of Comprehensive Care through certification examination, by the Counsel of the Advancement of Comprehensive Care (CACC), and National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME).
Dr. Layne is certified as a health-fitness specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine, holds a 5th degree black belt in karate, and a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. She is also a martial arts instructor for adult men and women at Mercer Academy of Martial Arts in Ewing, New Jersey.
Dr. Layne believes primary care providers are critical in counseling patients about the significant health benefits of a physically active lifestyle, and regular exercise across the lifespan. She asserts that primary care providers who exercise regularly themselves are also more likely to counsel patients about the role of exercise in the prevention and management of chronic disease, and help patients address those barriers typically encountered when trying to make a lifestyle change.
