Dr. Brink founded ConsentSolutions, Inc in 2005 to further the development of media-based approaches to informed consent for clinical trials. The company grew out of Phase II SBIR National Cancer Institute funding for the development of an online informed consent process for clinical trials. Dr. Brink served as the PI on that grant. ConsentSolutions, Inc was recognized as providing the "Best Technological Development in Planning and Education Tools in Clinical Trials" by the Good Clinical Practice Journal Awards in 2007. The award recognized ConsentSolutions' online informed consent software for clinical trials – SecureConsent. This award category emphasizes the growing importance of use of emerging technology in clinical trials and recognizes those firms that have launched new technology for trial planning and candidate education within the past year.
Susan has over 25 years experience in research and development in the area of patient and consumer health information and software. Dr Brink has served as the Principal Investigator on numerous NIH grants exploring technology approaches to engaging patients, consumers and organizations in health care decision-making. Dr Brink holds a DrPH from the University of Texas School of Public Health and a MS in Health Administration from the University of Colorado.
