Knowles Named Fellow

Los Angeles (PRWEB) February 9, 2010 -- Today it was announced that noted attorney Steven Knowles (Knowles Collum LLP) will be inducted as a Fellow into The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML).

The purpose of the Academy is "to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standard and advance the cause of matrimonial law, to the end that the welfare of the family and society be protected."

Academy Fellows are highly-skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law. To be inducted as a Fellow, an attorney must adhere to the ethical standards set forth in the "Bounds of Advocacy" as well as state bar rules of professional conduct, pass an oral and/or written exam, be reviewed by a state board of examiners and be referred by other matrimonial law practitioners in the state. They must also be recognized by both the bench and local/state bar as an expert practitioner in matrimonial law. Knowles', along with 1,600 other AAML Fellows, are recognized industrywide for their high level of expertise and integrity.

"I am humbled by what I consider to be the ultimate recognition for a Family Law practitioner - that of membership in the AAML, an achievement that carries with it true national stature. I am honored to be included in this group of skilled and respected professionals," Steven Knowles.

Knowles, who graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, is a certified specialist in family law by The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He's also been named as one of the "Best Lawyers in America" for the past 15 consecutive years by Best Lawyers, and is one of Southern California's Top 100 "Super Lawyers" by Super Lawyers magazine on numerous occasions. Before starting his own firm (Knowles Collum LLP), Steven was a partner at Trope and Trope for more than 25 years.
