Each year, they aim to raise donations for local community outreach programs and help needy children. In 2009, they supported Homeward Bound's Annual Baby Diaper Drive and Eileen Rogers' Big Wish.
Founded by Allegra 11 years ago, Homeward Bound's Annual Baby Diaper Drive assists homeless and domestic violence families with children throughout Maricopa County. Most of the families served can't cover the essentials of diapers, wipes, baby formula and more. Food stamps don't cover most baby necessities. The Baby Diaper Drive fills the gap by collecting months of emergency supplies and cash donations.
The drive is held from November 15th to January 31st and anyone can participate. Those interested in helping this holiday season can make a difference, "One Dollar, One Diaper, One Person at a Time!" The Big Wish project was started by long-time community volunteers and social activists Debbie Hill and Eileen Rogers. While many people celebrate milestones with a big trip to a faraway place or an extravagant party, Eileen Rogers has chosen to celebrate her 50th birthday this year to raise funds to build a school in Mali, a landlocked country in West Africa. The goal is to raise $75,000 to build a 190-student, three-classroom, brick and cement school and related projects in the in the Mali village of Tourari, located approximately 10 miles west of Timbuktu.
