Royal Bank of Canada’s David Allgood Awarded for “Excellence in Corporate Practice”

Announced During Association of Corporate Counsel’s Annual Meeting in Boston

Washington, D.C. (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 28, 2009 -- The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) presented its 2009 “Excellence in Corporate Practice” award to David R. Allgood, Executive Vice-President and General Counsel for Royal Bank of Canada during its Annual Meeting in Boston last week. The award, now in its 13th year, recognizes achievements in service to the legal profession.

“David is clearly one of the most innovative leaders in law department management,” said ACC President Frederick J. Krebs. “As General Counsel at one of the largest and most respected legal departments in Canada, David has spearheaded best practices and surrounded himself with top-notch legal talent – always a sign of a great CLO. Established in 1996, the “Excellence in Corporate Practice” award recognizes an outstanding in-house attorney who has made significant business and legal contributions to the success of their client including legal advocacy and counseling, service to the legal profession, law department management, and cost control processes.

Mr. Allgood joined Royal Bank of Canada in August 1998 as Senior Vice-President Corporate Taxation. He became Executive Vice-President and General Counsel in June 2000. Formerly, he was a partner in the law firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in the taxation practice.
