More than 50 from United Law Group participated in the 2009 Relay for Life in Newport Beach, CA. They did it for their co-worker and cancer survivor Myrna Adriano and countless family and friends who have been touched by this disease.
Irvine, CA (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 19, 2009 -- United Law Group, the leading provider of legal foreclosure prevention and foreclosure litigation services sponsored a team for the 2009 Relay for Life in Newport Beach, CA. The 24-hour event began Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 10 a.m. and finished Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Newport Harbor High School, Newport Beach.

Activities took place for 24 hours to honor the fact that those battling cancer must deal with the disease 24 hours a day. The United Law Group participated to support their co-worker, Myrna Adriano. Myrna was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in June of 2006 after discovering a lump during a self-exam. She went through chemotherapy, radiation treatment and endured many complications. She’s been cancer free for three years.
“Myrna is a co-worker, a survivor and an important part of our United Law Group family,” said Sean Rutledge, Managing Director for United Law Group. “Our office is involved in this event because we want to support her and all those who battle this disease.”
After the Relay for Life, Myrna will undergo another surgery and treatments. Though unrelated to the cancer removed from her breast, this will be her second battle with this disease.
“Cancer is not some obscure disease that we read about in a journal or magazine,” said Rutledge. “It has a face. For many of us, it is the face of a beloved parent, child or friend. Virtually everyone in our office has been touched by it in some way. Our team was full of people who want to see an end to cancer.”
Statisticians claim that one out of every three women will face cancer in their lifetime. For men the statistic is one out of every two.
In addition to the fun, this year the American Cancer Society was on hand to enroll people in a long-term study called the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). This study will help researchers better identify the lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer.
About Relay for Life of Newport Beach
