Yes, Virginia, There Really Is A "Law Day"

"True, you won't get May 1st off from work but with a little help from Abe Lincoln and 'My Pet Lawyer' in his first cartoon webisode, you could at least laugh your way through the day."

(PRWEB) April 30, 2009 -- Don't you hate it when holidays sneak up on you? Especially ones you've never heard of before. I mean, there you are having lunch with some cute attorney friend when somewhere between your BLTs and your tomato bisque, they drop this bomb on you...

"How are you spending Law Day this year?"

"Oh the usual ways," you reply. "Hire Santa Laws to sue Santa Claus for what he didn't bring me last Christmas...."

WHAT THE HECK IS LAW DAY?

While Law Day may not appear on your standard May 1st calendar, the ABA "Law Day" website lets you breathe a sigh of relief that you're not the victim of the old phony-holiday-buy-me-a-gift con.

Law Day has been around since 1958. Back then, American Bar Association President Charles S. Rhyne suggested to then President Dwight D. Eisenhower that he proclaim a holiday about appreciating our American heritage of liberty, justice and equality under the law. But this Law Day is special because it's also Abraham Lincoln's Bicentennial Birthday.

So, a very worthy holiday, you think, but let's get down to what's really important...."Do I get the day off from work?"

Well, not exactly, but if you can take a couple of minutes out of your busy schedule, you will be the happy recipient of a free Law Day laugh. Log onto www.mypetlawyer.com and watch Abe Lincoln and My Pet Lawyer star in My Pet Lawyer's FIRST CARTOON WEBISODE.

MY PET WHAT?

If you're not personally acquainted with him yet, "My Pet Lawyer" is this little electronic remote-controlled spike-collared lawyer dude that looks like a cross between a pit bull and a shark. He comes packaged in a doghouse and sits or stands on top of a briefcase with the hands of his last courtroom victim sticking out from underneath it. His eyes and mouth flash and he growls out any one of nine preprogrammed lawyer-like phrases, you know, stuff like "Pro Bono? Never heard of him!" and "I care. Hahahaha!" You can even program the little guy to say or sing anything you want and he'll do it either solo or in a synchronized "firm" with a bunch of his pet lawyer buddies.

Pet Lawyers are now being "adopted" worldwide. True, the Obama's passed on this pit bull lawyer for a Portuguese Water Dog, but the White House may still have room for a second pet and another lawyer in the house could always come in handy. "My Pet Lawyer" is top dog on gift lists all over the place. He's been "Cool Executive Toy" on CNBC, featured in "Best Gifts to Give a Mogul-in-the-making" in New York's Gotham, "Editor's Pick" for the Inauguration Edition of "Where Washington" magazine. Even the "ABA Journal" and "California Lawyer" Magazine call him a "must-have toy for the lawyer who has everything." This little baldheaded lawyer has got clout - hey, maybe he can get us Law Day off!

MY PET LAWYER - THE WEBISODE

It's worth a click over to www.mypetlawyer.com because even if you don't adopt one or two or twelve, you'll find a link for My Pet Lawyer's FIRST CARTOON WEBISODE to honor Law Day. These mypetlawyer.com people may be totally whacked, but in the best way. You might find yourself ready to adopt a whole firm of lawyers along with whoever invented him. Remember, Mother's Day is coming up and this guy's got a face only a mother could love. Father's Day is in June, and is your nephew graduating from law school this year? Pass up the paperweight for this cool lawyer gift.

Yes, May 1 is Law Day, but why stop there? Google May 1st and you're going to find "Save a Rhino Day!", "Mother Goose Day!", "Frequent Flyer Day!", "Couple Appreciation Day!", "New Homeowner's Day!" and hey, go figure, May 1st is also "May Day!" Well, I say who better to save a Rhino or Mother a Goose or appreciate a couple of frequent flying new homeowners than My Pet Lawyer so let's belly-up to the State Bar this Law Day, boys and make it Pet Lawyers all around - or at least send everyone a link to his free webisode. We may not get the day off but at least we can laugh our way through it.

LIFE WITHOUT LAWYERS

There's a book out with that title, but seriously, can you imagine a world without lawyers anymore than a world without lawyer jokes. I think the only thing worse than either would be a world full of homeless pets. That probably explains why Billable Hours Unlimited, Ltd. (the company that makes My Pet Lawyer) says they're donating five percent of the net profits from all sales made directly through their www.mypetlawyer.com website to Voice for the Animals for the rescue and adoption of homeless pets.
