Ireland Stapleton Establishes Environmental Law Practice Group

The Denver-based law firm, Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, PC, has established an environmental law practice group.

Denver (PRWEB) March 8, 2009 -- The Denver-based law firm, Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, PC, has established an environmental law practice group.

Environmental attorney Rebecca Almon has joined Ireland Stapleton as a director and will lead the firm's environmental practice group, which will also handle energy and natural resources matters. Additionally, environmental attorney Lukas Staks has joined the firm as an associate.

Almon assists her clients with the environmental aspects of business transactions, compliance advice, permitting, asbestos issues, and assessment of potential environmental liabilities and litigation risks for internal financial auditing and disclosure requirements. Further, Almon advises on property transactions involving land use complexities, regulatory compliance, land planning, and annexation.    

She has extensive experience with environmental site assessments and remediation under federal and state law, including CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, ESA and Clean Water Act compliance. She has also conducted and published client surveys on hazardous waste coverage interpreting issues related to environmental insurance coverage.

Prior to joining Ireland Stapleton, Almon was a partner in the Denver office of Kamlet Shepherd & Reichert. Before that, she worked in environmental enforcement as an assistant attorney general for the State of Illinois and at the Chicago firm, Hinshaw & Culbertson. She earned her juris doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Staks works with public and private companies on Superfund site remediation and redevelopment, compliance with RCRA regulations and preparation and evaluation of environmental impact statements. Staks has represented municipalities negotiating electric franchise, operating and quality of service agreements with investor-owned electric corporations.

Prior to joining Ireland Stapleton, Staks was an associate in the Denver office of Kamlet Shepherd & Reichert. He interned in the EPA's National Enforcement Investigations Center. He earned his juris doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
