The Boy Scouts of America, Greater Niagara Frontier Council have named Frank J. Clark, Erie County District Attorney, as Scouter Citizen of the Year (SCOTY). He will be honored at the 21st annual golf tournament on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Wanakah Country Club.
(PRWEB) August 9, 2008 -- The Boy Scouts of America, Greater Niagara Frontier Council have named Frank J. Clark, Erie County District Attorney, as Scouter Citizen of the Year (SCOTY). He will be honored at the 21st annual golf tournament on Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Wanakah Country Club.
Mr. Clark currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York, as well as on the Chief Justice's Probation Task Force and the New York City Bar Association's Task Force on Town and Village Courts. He is a member of the Deans Advisory Council of the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School and the Buffalo State College Community Advisory Committee. Mr. Clark serves on the Board of Directors of the 100 Club of Buffalo and the Buffalo Firefighters Guardian Foundation. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Greater Niagara Frontier Council of the Boys Scouts of America. He is a 2007 recipient of the New York State Bar Association's Outstanding Prosecutor Award; and is the past recipient of the Erie County Bar Association's Criminal Justice Award and Niagara University Founders Award.
Mr. Clark is serving his third term as Erie County District Attorney, having been elected to that position in 1997 and re-elected in 2000 & 2004. Prior to his election, he served as First Deputy District Attorney of Erie County for nine years, and previously as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of New York. During that period, he acted as Chief of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force and coordinated federal drug prosecutions for the 17 counties of Western New York.
Mr. Clark received his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School, and his undergraduate degree from Niagara University. He served in the United States Marine Corps and is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam conflict. He resides in Buffalo with his wife, Catherine Kennedy Clark.
The golf tournament serves as a vital fundraising initiative for the Greater Niagara Frontier Council. Last year's event raised over $35,000 for the Council. All proceeds will benefit local Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, Exploring and Scoutreach programs.
The Boy Scouts of America, Greater Niagara Frontier Council is an incorporated, voluntary association of citizens that provides age-appropriate character-building programs that provide local youth with developmental assets. The Council serves over 17,000 youth in the territory of Erie and western Niagara Counties.
