Burnetts, one of the North West's leading law firms, is the latest regional firm to be appointed by MSI Global Alliance.
London (PRWEB) June 3, 2008 -- MSI Global Alliance (MSI) has moved to strengthen its presence in the UK legal market by appointing Carlisle based Burnetts as its law firm member in the North of England.
The appointment gives the fast-growing professional services alliance a strong presence in the North that complements the services provided by its law firm members in London (Lee Bolton Monier-Williams), the East (Birketts), the Midlands (Harrison Clark), on the UK's South Coast (Lester Aldridge), and in Scotland (Thorntons Law).
James Mendelssohn, MSI's Chief Executive, says: "There was a clear meeting of minds - MSI had been looking for an established regional player in the North for some time, while Burnetts has a growing portfolio of internationally focused clients who require reliable access to trusted lawyers around the world.
"The number of law firms we have been approached by over the last few years shows there is a growing trend for regional law firms to look beyond mergers and towards legal associations and networks and as a viable solution to retaining their independence, without losing their internationally focused clients to the big international law firms.
"Burnetts was able to meet our stringent membership criteria, including the ability to provide a wide range of commercial services and a commitment to quality and personal service. We are very confident that the clients of our member firms are in excellent hands in the North of England."
Tom Leach, managing partner of Burnetts, comments: "Burnetts is delighted to join such a prestigious international organisation. We have a strong empathy with other members of the association and look forward to a long and meaningful membership."
This latest appointment increases the size of MSI's UK legal membership to six firms, 500 lawyers, and over 1,200 staff, rivalling the coverage offered by many of the UK's national law firms. With a strong UK accountancy membership that comprises haysmacintyre in the South and Armstrong Watson in the North of England and Southern Scotland, small to medium sized businesses have access to the full range of professional advisory services on a nationwide basis.
Mendelssohn adds: "We plan to continue our growth in the UK and are looking to appoint law firm members in Wales and Northern Ireland. Strong independent firms are invited to come forward."
