Houston Personal Injury Law Firm Williams Kherkher Provides Information, Resources for Victims of Goodyear Plant Explosion

Victims of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plant explosion in Houston can find legal resources provided online by Houston personal injury firm Williams Kherkher.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) June 13, 2008 -- Houston personal injury law firm Williams Kherkher announces the launch of an online information and resource center to assist victims of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plant explosion and chemical leak.

On the morning of Wednesday, June 11, 2008, an explosion in a heat exchange at a Goodyear synthetic rubber manufacturing plant in Houston, TX caused ammonia gas to leak into the surrounding area, resulting in the death of one employee and the hospitalization of six others.

Although fire officials said the chemical leak was contained as soon as an hour after the blast and posed no danger to nearby residents, rescue crews were unable to fully search the area for several hours. The body of a female employee was discovered near the initial explosion site at around 2 PM Wednesday afternoon. Her identity was not released.

Ammonia is used in many industrial processes as a refrigerant. It is, however, a toxic, corrosive gas which can cause lung irritation, lung damage, and death if inhaled in large quantities. Of the six injured employees, two remain hospitalized for further treatment and observation.
