Out of a membership of more than 84,000, there are fewer than 2,600 AIA Fellows, an honor awarded to architects with at least 10 years of AIA membership who have made contributions of national significance to the profession. LeBoeuf and Vlahos were both invested in the College of Fellows at the 2010 AIA National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami, June 11.

“Fellowship is a great honor and Michael LeBoeuf and Dean Vlahos are worthy recipients,” said DLR Group Managing Principal Bryce Pearsall, FAIA, LEED AP. “Michael’s contribution through design, and Dean’s through practice have advanced the profession of architecture and positively impacted local communities.”

Michael LeBoeuf, FAIA, established a DLR Group office in Orlando in 1999. He is a member of the firm’s Design Forum and was recently appointed to the General Service Administration (GSA) National Register of Peer Professionals, part of GSA’s nationwide Design Excellence program. Work by his design teams has received nine national AIA awards and numerous local and regional AIA awards.

LeBoeuf has practiced for more than 30 years; leading projects that have helped define the urban core in cities across the country. His design focuses on large urban government buildings including the Pueblo County (Colo.) Courthouse and the Orange County (Fla.) Courthouse Complex in his hometown of Orlando. His design has contributed to the evolution of the modern courthouse by enhancing building efficiency and transforming courtroom design and operation.

Dean J. Vlahos, FAIA, LEED AP, joined DLR Group WWCOT in 1999 and has more than 30 years of architectural experience. He is an internationally recognized authority on forensic architecture and a requested speaker at national architectural and construction conferences addressing the practice of forensic investigation. Vlahos is committed to advancing the profession by leading symposiums for the AIA, Construction Management Association of America, and the Construction Specification Institute; Architect Registration Exam workshops for intern architects; and continuing education seminars in architecture and construction for legal audiences and building officials and industry associations.

As a practicing architect, Vlahos has successfully completed a wide range of building types including commercial, correctional, educational, justice, medical, and single and multi-unit housing. Work by his team has earned six national AIA awards and numerous local and regional AIA awards.
