The Connecticut Bar Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1952 which is the primary source of funding for all legal aid in the state. The Bar Foundation is playing an increasingly important role in making sure that everyone in the state of Connecticut, whether poor, young or disabled, has access to legal services and understands how the legal system works. It sponsors programs to enhance understanding of the law such as symposia on issues of law in society and projects such as the history of Connecticut’s women lawyers.
“Tim’s formidable skills of intellect, creativity and personal persuasiveness are concentrated and focused on everything he does, framed and fueled by an energy few can match,” said Professor Hugh Macgill former Dean of the University of Connecticut School of Law, Mr. Fisher’s predecessor. “He can keep a strategic map clearly in mind while executing the small ‘next steps’ required to make it real, in perfect sequence and minute detail. I had many moments to savor during my two years as President of the Connecticut Bar Foundation, but none so satisfying as handing the gavel to Tim. Truly, ‘the best is yet to be.’”
Timothy Fisher is a partner in the firm's Real Estate/ Construction/ Environmental Practice Group, a multi-state team of lawyers who address all facets of the construction industry. He recently served on the Governor's Commission on Judicial Reform, and was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Greater Hartford Legal Aid, Inc. He is the 2008 recipient of the Connecticut Bar Association's John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award.
