Register Now for 6 Credit Hour CLE with Browning Title & Blue Ridge Community College

Browning Title and the Small Business Center of Blue Ride Community College (Flat Rock, NC) are co-sponsoring a free, six-credit hour CLE on June 3, 2010. Attorneys and paralegals will learn about Real Estate Title Exams, Foreclosures, Short Sales and Deeds in Lieu, as well as fulfill their Ethics and Mental Health requirements. T. Karlton Knight and John T. McLean, both with First American Title Insurance Company of North Carolina, and Jim Blackburn, former U.S. Attorney and Lead Prosecutor for United States v. Jeffery MacDonald will be the featured speakers.

The conference will take place at the Blue Ridge Conference Hall on the Blue Ridge Community College campus, with check in at 8:30 am. The workshop will begin at 9:00am and end by 4:30 pm.

John T. McLean, First American Title Insurance Company’s State Agency Manager for North Carolina will speak on Real Estate Title Search & Examination in North Carolina. T. Karlton Knight, First American Title Insurance Company’s State Counsel for North Carolina will speak on Foreclosures, Short Sales, & Deeds in Lieu. Jim Blackburn, former U.S. Attorney and Lead Prosecutor for United States v. Jeffrey MacDonald will speak on Ethics and Professionalism, as well as Mental Health Awareness. Mr. Blackburn gained notoriety in the 1979 triple murder case of former Green Beret, Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald only to lose it all in 1993, surrendering his law license and starting over. His lessons learned in ethics and professionalism as well as mental health and substance abuse are routinely touted as 'life changing' and 'not to be missed'.

Browning Title, issuing agent for Chicago Title, First American and Fidelity National Title Insurance companies, routinely offers educational opportunities for attorneys and paralegals in western NC. The NC Bar requires 12 hours annually of approved CLE, of which 2 hours must be on ethics and professionalism. Every three calendar years, one hour must be earned in mental health or substance abuse. Participants of the June 3 CLE will be able to take care of half of the required annual hours, including the once every 3 years requirement of mental health.
