(Vocus/PRWEB ) May 20, 2010 -- The Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of LawForChange, a unique and innovative online legal resource designed for people and organizations in the social sector dedicated to improving lives and bringing about positive social change. LawForChange will provide a one-stop source of legal information and resources that help individuals and organizations understand the legal requirements involved in establishing and operating U.S.-based social sector organizations.
Working closely with Lex Mundi member law firms and select law schools, the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation compiled detailed information for each U.S. state, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The site features:
1. Legal Resources -- information that addresses key legal topics associated with starting and running a social sector organization, including a start-up kit, legal audit check list, frequently asked questions and guides2. Discussion Forum and Blogs -- organizations and thought leaders can share and discuss legal topics and developments affecting the social sector
3. News and Events -- hot topics and legal news and events relevant to the social sector
“The information made available on LawForChange is specifically tailored to the needs of 'social sector organizations', which include social entrepreneurs and innovators, social enterprises, charities, community organizations, philanthropies, and faith-based organizations,” commented Chloe Holderness, Managing Director of the Lex Mundi Pro Bono Foundation. “LawForChange will help these individuals and organizations by providing state-specific basic legal information so that they can minimize risk and know when and why to consult a lawyer. It will also help them anticipate and think strategically about the legal issues they are likely to face while giving them access to an online community for sharing legal challenges, solutions and new developments with others.”
Ms. Holderness further commented, “I would like to thank the Lex Mundi U.S. member firms and select law schools for the information they have contributed to LawForChange. This is a great example of how professionals and institutions within the legal industry can come together and utilize their talents and time to have a real and positive impact on organizations working to create social change in their communities.”
