Because the number of annual motorcycle fatalities has increased for the 11th consecutive year, Utah based law firm Nielsen & Senior notes the need for immediate education and solutions.
Salt Lake City, UT (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 9, 2010 -- The hobby-sport of motorcycle riding is increasing in popularity but it brings with it some startling numbers. 2008 reported the 11th consecutive year that there has been an increase in motorcycle fatalities; therefore, Utah law firm Nielsen & Senior attorneys proclaim the need for public education and proper legal solutions.
Though the increase from year-to-year is a slow rise, it remains consistent. In 2008, 96,000 motorcycle riders were injured and roughly 5,290 of those bikers were killed – an increase of 2% from the previous year. Though each year’s growth remains in the single digits, it adds up when considering the total number of annual deaths has nearly doubled since 2000 when it was only 2,897.
Statistics also point out that motorcycle riders are 37 times more likely to die in a crash than a passenger car and therefore account for a disproportionate amount of incidents – the result of neglecting the laws.
These gruesome numbers have led Utah personal injury attorneys to develop a specialty in this field of law in an effort to better represent the victims behind these climbing figures.
Nielsen & Senior has been an esteemed member Utah's legal community for over 100 years. With the addition of other attorneys and mergers with small firms over time, Nielsen & Senior continues to diversify its expertise in employment, real estate, corporate, estate planning, land use, water, environmental and municipal law.
