Select 1 Transport’s Ann Danko Named Safety Professional of the Year

21-year industry veteran honored by Michigan Trucking Association. The award was presented by Michigan Secretary of State Ms. Terri Lynn Land.

Ms. Danko serves as Manager of Safety and Human Resources for the company. She has been with Select 1 Transport for over five years. The award was presented by Michigan Secretary of State Ms. Terri Lynn Land.

Ann Danko is a U.S. Army Reserve veteran of Operation Desert Storm. She feels her experience in the military has been a great asset throughout her career as a motor carrier safety professional.

“I can never emphasize enough the importance of non-stop training. The U.S. Department of Transportation is consistently updating the regulatory environment and it is crucial to keep all of our personnel up to speed. Constant communication is imperative to maintaining the highest levels of safety and compliance,” Ms. Danko said.

Select 1 Transport is an interstate carrier as well as an international carrier. This means the company is not only responsible to stay on top of regulations with the U.S. Department of Transportation, but also a host of Canada’s provincial Ministries of Transportation as well.

Ms. Danko played a key role in the coordination of Select 1 Transport’s major safety initiatives and the company’s ISO 9001:2008 quality certification. Under her watch, the company has also enrolled in Canada Border Service Agency’s (CBSA) Partners in Protection (PIP) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s C-TPAT and FAST programs.

The company is also concluding the certification process for the Customs Self Assessment Program (CSA) and is approved with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as well as enrolled in the TWIC program, allowing for loading and unloading at the nation’s airports and ports, respectively.
