Newport Beach, CA (Vocus/PRWEB ) March 31, 2010 -- The California personal injury law firm of BISNAR | CHASE (BestAttorney.com) today announced it will be a corporate patron and water sponsor of Walk Like MADD 2010 (Walk Like MADD 2010) on Saturday, May 8, 2010 in Huntington Beach, California. The event is designed to help Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) support programs for both victims of drunk driving as well as programs to help prevent drunk driving and underage drinking in Orange County.

As part of its sponsorship, members of the BISNAR | CHASE staff are actively involved in raising money for the event. Additionally, the firm's team members will be on-hand to participate in the 5K walk, to supply water to participants and to educate people about their legal rights as drunk driving crash victims.

"We're proud to be a sponsor of such an important event and a supporter of MADD, an organization that works tirelessly to prevent drunk driving and underage drinking," said John Bisnar, founder of BISNAR | CHASE. "The statistics involving drunk driving crashes are staggering. That's why we felt it was so important to get involved with the Walk Like MADD 2010 event, to give something back to our community and to educate victims of drunk driving crashes, to help them seek justice against offenders and to recover monetary damages for injuries and wrongful death."

In 2008, an estimated 11,773 people died in alcohol-impaired traffic collisions. What's more, three in every 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related traffic collision in their lives, and in the U.S. alone, crashes related to alcohol cost approximately $51 billion every year.1

MADD works to save lives through education, awareness, and the passage and enforcement of anti-drunk driving and underage drinking laws. Just as importantly, MADD provides crucial support for the survivors, family members and friends coping with the devastation caused by a drunk driving collision.

In addition to its participation at the event, BISNAR | CHASE has fun activities planned for its booth, including a dunk tank and face painting for children. What's more, the firm is sharing its event space with WeTip, a leading anonymous crime reporting service and law enforcement advocacy non-profit organization, which has recently partnered with BISNAR | CHASE to launch the Hit and Run Reward Program (HitandRunReward.com), an anonymous reporting system and cash rewards program for witnesses who care enough to report hit and run offenders.

Bisnar says many hit-and-run drivers flee the scene of a crash because they've been drinking and driving, and in California, the number of hit-and-run offenses has risen sharply. After years of decline, more drivers are fleeing the scenes of deadly crashes in California than in any other state in the nation. In 2007, nearly 250 people died in hit-and-run traffic collisions in California, with more than 25,000 people suffering injuries from various types of hit and run collisions.2

"I'm utterly appalled by the inhumanity of hit-and-run drivers who flee the scene of a serious crash, leaving injured victims to suffer or die," said Bisnar. "It's my hope more violators will get prosecuted when witnesses have a place and method to anonymously turn them in and that perpetrators will be deterred from fleeing the scene when they know someone can and will report them."

About MADD
MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) is a non-profit organization founded in 1980 by Candace Lightner in Sacramento, California after her daughter was killed by a drunk driver. The driver who struck and killed her daughter had two previous convictions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and was out on bail for a drunk driving hit-and-run only two days prior. Today, MADD has over 600 local chapters across the United States and is the largest crime victims' assistance program in the world with more than three million members and supporters. Since MADD's inception drunk driving related deaths have declined by 43 percent. MADD's commitment is to eliminate drunk driving through public awareness, victim assistance, youth programs, and public policy. MADD's mission statement "to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking," is indicative of their new additional focus on reaching out to the nations' youth.
