Osterman Research Survey Results on SaaS Email Archiving Highlights Satisfaction With Hosted Archiving Solutions

Organizations that have implemented SaaS archiving are very pleased with the functionality of their SaaS-based archiving solutions, their ability to satisfy their regulatory compliance obligations and their ability to meet legal requirements for preservation and discovery of email.

Black Diamond, WA (PRWEB) February 8, 2010 -- Osterman Research has just published Results of a Survey on SaaS-Based Archiving, a white paper that discusses the results of an in-depth survey on satisfaction with SaaS-based archiving vendors. The research and white paper were sponsored by Smarsh.

Email archiving is becoming more popular for a variety of reasons: to maintain regulatory compliance, to satisfy e-discovery and other legal demands, to manage email storage more effectively, and to maintain corporate knowledge stores, among other reasons. SaaS-based archiving solutions, offered by a growing number of vendors, are becoming a popular alternative to on-premise solutions for many organizations. These solutions can be less expensive and are faster and easier to implement than on-premise solutions in many cases.

“Clearly, SaaS-based archiving has become a viable alternative to on-premise archiving, even for very large organizations with thousands of users”, said Michael Osterman, principal of Osterman Research.
The research survey, which was conducted in December 2009, queried decision makers at organizations that have implemented SaaS-based message archiving. The survey found that overall respondents are very pleased with the functionality of their SaaS-based archiving solutions, their ability to satisfy their regulatory compliance obligations and their ability to meet legal requirements for preservation and discovery of email. Further, satisfaction with the storage management and cost of their solutions are also very high.

The white paper also discusses satisfaction with various SaaS-based archiving vendors on a 14 different attributes, including the speed of searching the archive, the functionality of the offering, and the uptime of the solution and the responsiveness of the vendor’s technical support.

“Clearly, SaaS-based archiving has become a viable alternative to on-premise archiving, even for very large organizations with thousands of users,” said Michael Osterman, principal of Osterman Research. “The ability to satisfy regulatory and legal obligations, as well as the ability to manage storage more effectively, often at a reduced cost, is a key benefit offered by many SaaS-based archiving vendors.”
