American Language Services, a premier leader of the Translation, Transcription and Interpretation industries just completed its initial phase of expansion last month. They expanded their Los Angeles headquarters hub, preparing for the booming industry growth expected in the coming year. The quarter century-old company tripled the size of its headquarters, with more expansion plans for the future.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 16, 2010 -- The expansion efforts have been predicated by the ever-increasing market for Interpretation and Translation due to the current trend in global market expansion. The globalization effort is due largely to the fact that corporate America has, out of necessity, increased its willingness to participate in the global market. With the end of national market decline nowhere in sight, companies are broadening their horizons and the scope of their clientele to compete globally for a total market share with outsourcing, relocation, and strategic, overseas partnering. With an increase in each facet of globalization, comes a marked increase in the need for interpretation and translation.
American Language Services or ALS, who already serves a wide variety and majority of private sector companies and governmental agencies, has expanded operations to facilitate the needs of clientele who are arriving on the global market for the first time. In addition to the company’s expansion in the states, the company has increased global operations, expanding services in China, Western Europe, and in the developing economies of South America and Northern Africa.
Because the global market will be the playing field for successful companies in the next decade of the millennium, language communications will be a determining factor for the rate and strength of their success. Commerce businesses/corporations seeking new avenues of revenue are and will be seeking interpretation and translation services to bolster their longevity through global relations.
In one such strategic effort, to both maintain and widen its international appeal, the Hasbro Corporation, already a mainstay of the international market, reinstated the World Championships of Monopoly. The two-day tournament engaged international fans of the players from over forty countries, and generated a broader buzz for the game itself.
The renowned toy company, who brought the international contestants to Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas last October, is one of the many companies seeking language services to facilitate their ability to reach the consumers of the global market. Using fifteen interpreters from American Language Services, to support the non-English speaking contestants, Hasbro was able to capture the kind of international consumer buzz-appeal it needs to successfully transition into the next decade of the new millennium.
Large scale, international companies like Hasbro, however, are no longer the only ones occupying seats at the world economy table. The legal, governmental, and medical fields, as well as small businesses, have joined the international roundtable utilizing vast amounts of language services to get there.
According to American Language Services Vice President, Alan Weiss, there has been a huge influx of small scale, domestic companies seeking language services for document translation or business and conference interpretation for the purpose of networking and investment opportunities.
“A few years ago, it would have been unheard of to see a mom and pop company use interpretation both here and abroad—now it’s becoming the norm.” Weiss went on to explain that ALS’s expansion was driven by necessity and the demand of the market.
“We will continue expansion to meet the growing needs of our customers –if they need to do business in Timbuktu—we’ll be there with an interpreter.” All joking aside, he reveled in the irony that his company is following the very trend it facilitates.
In the second decade of the new millennium of the Communication Age--whose scope is predicted to be more globally minded than any decade prior to it--communication will be more important than ever before, and the use of language service professionals will continue to increase. The ever-expanding ALS team is already preparing for the challenge.
“It’s a great challenge to meet in this kind of economy—many companies are closing up shop and we are expanding on a large scale,” said Weiss. “It’s an interesting, ever-changing world, and it’s exciting to be at the forefront of the change.”
Language which once divided the world and its markets may prove to be the binding factor that renews and refuels the economy both at home and abroad; and language services like ALS may be the ones to thank for it.
