AEP Partners with Dorsey & Whitney to Provide Business Law Advice to Educational Resource Industry

The Association of Educational Publishers and Dorsey & Whitney announce an industry partnership that will provide business law advice to companies in the educational resource community. AEP members will benefit from exclusive podcasts.

Logan Twp., NJ (Vocus/PRWEB ) February 16, 2010 -- Navigating the global and digital realities of the 21st Century business landscape is a challenge for any organization, but particularly those in the business of educational content who must understand the education, business, and publishing worlds. Now, companies in the education space can turn to Dorsey & Whitney’s Legal Corner, a new online resource provided by the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) and global law firm Dorsey & Whitney. Legal Corner is a series of articles and podcasts by D&W partners providing guidance on operational concerns like data security policy, industry-specific challenges like international rights licensing and intellectual property, and other business objectives involving mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt financings, and more.

“We pride ourselves on being the association that provides answers, especially for the many small- to mid-sized companies and nonprofits in the industry that may not have the resources to tackle larger issues head-on,” said Charlene Gaynor, CEO of AEP. “Our new partnership with Dorsey & Whitney and the resulting content will be an extremely valuable resource to the entire educational resource community.”

“Dorsey & Whitney is proud to be partnering with AEP,” said Jeff Fromm, partner at Dorsey & Whitney and head of Dorsey’s new Educational Publishing, Technology, and Services Industry Group. “We look forward to providing insight into key issues for companies in this unique industry and offering them guidance to help protect their businesses in this shifting legal landscape.”

The series will begin with a podcast by Dorsey partner Nick Akerman about the importance of data security and employee computer policy, an increasingly challenging task in an age where so much of everyday business is conducted electronically. AEP members will be able to submit questions for consideration for future articles and podcasts.

“Our goal is to show our members that the law should not overwhelm them,” added Gaynor. “With expert advice from Dorsey & Whitney presented in language that anyone can understand, our members can feel more secure as they delve deeper into new business realms.”
