Special Forces Infrared added to TigerFlare LED Emergency Lighting Systems

TigerFlare LED Electronic Flares replace disposable chemical flares that are traditionally used by Law Enforcement and Fire Departments to illuminate hazard scenes and vehicle checkpoints.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) January 11, 2010 -- TigerFlare LED Electronic Flares are already in use by more than 100 Law Enforcement Agencies and Fire Departments across North America since their introduction this past summer. TigerFlares are visible to traffic from a greater distance than chemical flares while eliminating the risk of igniting spilled fuels or dangerous chemicals at the scene.

“We are working towards a Greener and more Cost-Effective solution for First Responders who recognize the limitations of perchlorate flares and their damage to the environment as well as personal safety concerns for Personnel at the scene. These LEDs are extremely bright and are fully self-contained in a robust case that can withstand pretty much anything you can throw at it,” says Michael Wolf at EVI.

Establishing perimeter zones and controlling traffic requires highly visible emergency markers that can be seen around the clock and in all weather conditions. Yet a new variation on this same LED technology provides Special Forces in Military and Law Enforcement with a unique tool for covert operations. In January the company added Infrared to their color spectrum.

“When working in a covert environment, the Officer may need to identify a suspect vehicle which is then followed at a distance. The TigerFlare Infrared magnetically attaches to the vehicle and can then be seen with night vision equipment for up to 60 hours. The vehicle doesn’t draw any attention from other motorists and the driver remains otherwise unaware that he is being tracked.”

Recent advances in production techniques have brought down the manufactured cost of Infrared Light Emitting Diodes to where the premium over a standard red or blue LED has been significantly reduced.

“The best available equipment won’t help to prosecute a criminal or terror suspect when it is priced well beyond State and Municipal budgets. We’ve priced the TigerFlare Infrared at the same rate as our standard units,” says Michael Wolf.
