Five James Scott Farrin attorneys win North Carolina Advocates for Justice Awards

Five attorneys from the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin have received 2009 Order of Service Awards from the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.

Durham, North Carolina (PRWEB) January 7, 2010 -- Five attorneys from the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin have received 2009 Order of Service Awards from the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ).

The 2009 award is given to members who were generous in their contributions of service in advancing NCAJ’s mission of protecting people’s rights during the period of July 1, 2008-June 30, 2009.

Those who’ve won awards are:

During the award period, Clontz began his continuing service as Communications Chair for the Auto Torts Section Executive Committee, the largest section in the NCAJ with approximately 550 members. Clontz also worked with the NCAJ to found the Auto Torts Section’s monthly newsletter, and continues to serve as editor and contributing writer. Last year, he began his continuing service on the Communications Committee for the NCAJ. This year, he began the challenging work of creating, overseeing and soliciting input as editor-in-chief for the newly released NCAJ blog, found at http://www.ncaj.com.

During the award period, Cole was a member of The Uniform Apportionment of Tort Responsibility Act (UATRA) task force to study the feasibility of converting North Carolina from a contributory negligence state to a comparative negligence state. This year, Cole served as co-chair of the NCAJ “Mountain Magic” annual fall meeting, is co-editor of an issue of Trial Brief focusing on legal advocacy, and is the Listserv Security Officer for the Auto Torts Executive Committee. He recently spoke at a seminar for the NCAJ called “Trying Your First Case” where he addressed the topic of handling the main part of the case, between jury selection and closing argument. Over the years, he presented at more than a dozen NCAJ Continuing Legal Education programs. In addition, he served as Editor in Chief of the newly released North Carolina Manual of Complaints – 3rd Ed.

Farrin, founder and president of the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, is a President’s Club member of the NCAJ, the highest membership level available. Under his leadership, the vast majority of the firm’s attorneys are members of the NCAJ. Fleming, a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Social Security Disability Law, has been on the executive committee of the NCAJ Disability Advocacy Section since 2004 and has served as Co-Chair of multiple Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars during the past five years. Last year, he served as Secretary, and from 2004-2007 as Co-Chair, of the NCAJ Disability Advocacy Section (DAS) Education Committee. He is presently Vice-Chair and Chair-Elect of the NCAJ-DAS.

Last year, Jordan served as a member of the NCAJ Publications and Legislative committees, as well as Publication’s Chair for the Auto Torts Executive Committee. He was also a contributing author of the North Carolina Personal Injury Liens Manual. He currently serves as Chair of the Publications Committee, which is a seat on the NCAJ Board of Governors, and continues his roles on the Auto Torts Executive Committee and as a contributing author during the updating of the N.C. Personal Injury Liens Manual.

The Order of Service awards are just the tip of the iceberg for the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin’s involvement with the NCAJ.
