Today Preti Flaherty announced that Wayne Keown has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Intellectual Property Group and will be practicing primarily out of its Portland office. Keown is a highly-experienced patent prosecutor with a strong background in Pharma/Biotech matters.
Portland, Maine (Vocus/PRWEB ) January 13, 2010 -- Today Preti Flaherty announced that Wayne Keown has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Intellectual Property Group and will be practicing primarily out of its Portland office. Keown is a highly-experienced patent prosecutor with a strong background in Pharma/Biotech matters. He brings 20 years of experience in prosecution, litigation, due diligence, opinion work, licensing and portfolio development and management to Preti Flaherty. He has extensive experience in U.S. and European patent office and court proceedings, Pharma/Biotech collaboration agreements and public and private investments.
According to attorney Alfred Frawley, Chair of Preti Flaherty’s Intellectual Property Group, “Wayne is an acknowledged leader in the Biotech IP field. Prior to joining Preti Flaherty, Keown’s legal career included founding a small patent law firm in Massachusetts and practicing patent law with Hale and Dorr LLP as a senior partner. He also served as sole in-house patent counsel to Hybridon, Inc., where he developed and managed a large patent portfolio and negotiated Pharma/Biotech collaboration and research agreements.
Keown is admitted to practice only in Massachusetts. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Boston Patent Law Association. He is a 1992 graduate of John Marshall School of Law and earned his Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Illinois in 1989. He earned his B.S. in Microbiology from Indiana University.
