Customized, three-day training designed to enable clean transition to new coding system.
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) December 15, 2009 -- The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) today announced the availability of on-site, customizable ICD-10-CM implementation training for health plans across the country beginning January. Developed specifically for health plans by a team of health care, coding and reimbursement experts, the on-site trainings are designed to enable any organization to systematically and effectively make the switch to ICD-10.
The ICD-10 on-site training program can be customized to fit any organization’s unique structure and size. Training will be conducted by an expert AAPC ICD-10 trainer who will walk health plans through the multi-year implementation plan step-by-step, covering areas such as:

“As all health plans must meet ICD-10 compliance, it is important for them to think strategically and prepare with the right tools and training,” said Julie Croly, President of Croly & Associates. ”The AAPC’s on-site training curriculum is designed to provide key stakeholders the insight, perspective and tools necessary to successfully implement ICD 10 within an organization.”

ICD-10-CM and PCS is an international coding standard that must be implemented by October 1, 2013. ICD-10 contains more than 187,000 codes—nearly 10 times the number of codes in the ICD-9 set. The change to the new system, mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services in January 2009, will be the most challenging transition since the inception of medical coding. To aid the health care industry through this transition, the AAPC has dedicated a team of its coding experts to develop and lead trainings for health plans, providers and facilities.
