Assistant U.S. Attorney Peter Winn Leads Discussion on Federal Enforcement in Melamedia Audio Seminar
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) December 2, 2009 -- Healthcare organizations would have remembered 2009 as a particularly hectic year regardless of the healthcare reform debate. They confronted new sets of requirements for managing and protecting patient information under American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. And with almost one year under its belt, the Obama Administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to electronic health records and data privacy and security.
While there are many clues, there are still some questions over where this administration is headed from an enforcement perspective. The new breach notification requirements as well as the broadening of who is covered by HIPAA have made the compliance environment a little murky And that is without including the fundamental reshuffling of enforcement responsibilities for HIPAA privacy and security within HHS.
Not all things are murky, however. Business Associates are becoming an attractive target under HIPAA for federal prosecutors for many reasons.
To help healthcare organizations and Business Associates understand the new regulatory and enforcement environment, Melamedia, LLC, publishers of Health Information Privacy/Security Alert is sponsoring a 90-minute audio seminar: The 6th Annual Review of Medical Privacy and Data Security Enforcement.
