World Renowned Street Artist Shepard Fairey Creates an Art Installation in Times Square

Special installation commemorates the launch of Obey x Levi’s, a limited-edition clothing collection jointly designed by Fairey and Levi’s.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 3, 2009 -- October 29, 2009 -- He helped then presidential candidate Barak Obama stand out from the crowd during the campaign with his now world famous “Hope” poster, and now Shepard Fairey has turned his keen artistic eye to the fashion world with the launch of the Obey x Levi’s collection.

Street art like I always do, except I don't have to look over my shoulder for the cops.
To commemorate the launch of the collection, Fairey unveiled a special public art installation in front of the Levi’s Times Square store in one of the world’s busiest intersections. This special event offered the public a rare inside view of the acclaimed street artist’s unique process. The San Francisco based Fairey also created a series of four new poster designs and signed the reproductions at the store.

The line consists of a tightly-edited assortment of eight essential menswear pieces that showcase fits, finishes, rips, patches and design details selected by Fairey and inspired by his personal collection of Levi’s denim. Each piece is a hand-customized original, punctuated by “spray paint” drip details, stenciled art imagery, pins and “wear and repair” finishing touches. The collection will be available beginning October 29 and will range in price from $34.50 to $148.
