The Counter Terrorist: Outstanding Growth of a National Magazine Despite the Internet and Recession

Homeland Security Professional’s magazine increases advertizing revenues by 30% and subscriber base by 25% an issue in a year when many magazines are closing their doors.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 9, 2009 -- At a time when Conde Nast has closed four magazines -- Modern Bride, Elegant Bride, Gourmet and Cookie – and other publications like the New Yorker and Vanity Fair are having difficulties, a newcomer to the magazine publishing industry is quickly becoming one of the nation’s fastest growing print publication. Many claim that magazines are dead due to the Internet and the recession but this magazine has clearly bucked the trend.

“We believe that we have an important message about Homeland Security to deliver to a very important group of people that protect our country,” says Sol Bradman, CEO of The Counter Terrorist Magazine’s (www.thecounterterroristmag.com) publishing company, Security Solutions International (SSI). “Obviously our advertisers have also realized this and are signing up to support our publication. We consider it a privilege to represent companies like Northrop Grumman and Avon Rubber as well as more than 40 others that advertise regularly in our pages and support our efforts.”

The magazine provides the USA’s more than 3 million First Responders with very accurate and scholarly analyses of many issues connected to counter terrorism. Recent articles have included:
“US Prison Recruitment for Jihad” by Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser and Raphael Shore and “Solo RAPID Response to Active Shooters: A Necessity for Deployment” by Michael Stepien to mention just a few. Readers praise the magazine for its hands-on approach by real people that have been there and done the work of fighting crime and terrorism worldwide. This includes US and foreign experts in the global war on terrorism.

“We offer advertisers an interactive approach to getting their message across to the reader. We are not a publishing company, but a Homeland Security training company and therefore we consider the magazine as part of our commitment to providing the country’s First Responders with the kind of information they need whether it is about jail-house Islam or problems with our borders. It also provides specific tools and techniques that will make them more effective in their jobs. We call this SSI Interactive, and it enables advertisers to get their product out in front of First Responders, not only in the magazine format but as part of what they do.”

The magazine holds its own annual conference attended by professionals from as far away as Australia. The 5th Annual Conference will be held in Las Vegas in late October and is known as the Homeland Security Professional’s Annual Conference.

At a time when the Internet is claiming more print publication closings than ever before, and while the magazine industry is shrinking; the Counter Terrorist has managed to reverse this trend. The website even has an eZine version that is read by members of US forces serving abroad. SSI has plans to develop the country’s first Internet-based Homeland Security Network in 2010, spearheaded by the success of The Counter Terrorist Magazine.
