Masters Conference Announces Stellar International Judicial Panel on E-Discovery

Although the US leads the world in both the legal and technical aspects of electronic discovery, there is a general acceptance that there is much to do to make this aspect of litigation an efficient and cost-effective component of case management. The essential difficulties are the same in England and Wales, but the approach taken is a slightly different one, and there is growing recognition that the two jurisdictions have something to learn from each other.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 23, 2009 -- The Masters Conference, an advanced legal educational experience, announced today that it has assembled a stellar judicial panel that will conduct a session on international e-discovery at the 2009 conference. The conference, "Global Corporate Change - Navigating Discovery, Risk and Security," will be held October 13-14, 2009, at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The Masters Conference will bring together experts and leading professionals from law firms, corporations, government entities and the bench to discuss strategies, practices and resources for managing the information lifecycle.

US Magistrate Judge John Facciola is one of the undisputed leaders of judicial thought in this area in the US. His counterparts in the UK are Senior Master Whitaker and His Honour Judge Simon Brown QC. These three were brought together, with Chris Dale of the UK-based e-Disclosure Information Project, at a successful panel in London in May 2009, moderated by Patrick Burke, Senior Director and Assistant General Counsel at Guidance Software. The Masters Conference is reconstituting the panel and attendees will have the opportunity to hear the best thinkers from both sides of the Atlantic talk about the differences, the commonality, and what each can learn from the other in this changing area.

Three educational tracks will be presented each day of this year's conference. Each track will delve into the critical, up-to-the-minute issues facing legal departments and their outside counsel.

Tracks & Topics include:

  • Risk & Risk Management - Early assessment, managing international business dispute, records management, security, cyber risk, responding to scandal, and more…
  • Compliance & Privacy - Managing government investigations, data mapping, cloud computing, data privacy, and more…
  • Litigation & Discovery - Controlling costs, litigation holds, new media discovery issues, lawsuit financing, LPO considerations, using discovery consultants and experts, and more…
