Law360 Introduces 'Top News' Section to Provide Free Legal News Articles on Stories of Interest to Business Lawyers

Fast-growing online news service for business lawyers debuts daily online newsletter that provides free access to Law360 articles regarding most important legal news stories of the day

New York (PRWEB) September 21, 2009 -- Law360, the fast-growing online news service for business lawyers in private, corporate and government practice, today announced the debut of its Top News section, a daily online newsletter that provides free access to Law360 articles regarding the most important legal news stories of the day.

The new section is the first of Law360's diverse range of online newsletters to offer access to full-text articles for absolutely no charge. The launch of Top News comes on the heels of an announcement earlier this month that Law360 introduced four new paid-subscription sections for the legal practice areas of Corporate Finance, Contract Law, International Trade and Appellate Law.

The new Top News section covers the most important daily legal news from the Law360 newsroom and includes full-text versions of the company's coverage of general legal news, including settlements, jury verdicts, new lawsuit filings and court news. The section also alerts readers to trends in the legal industry, such as law firm business development issues, staffing considerations and general business management matters.

"The idea behind Top News is to leverage some of the terrific legal journalism we're doing at Law360 into a free online resource for members of the legal community who want to keep their fingers on the pulse of the industry by monitoring the most important stories of the day," explained Marius Meland, chief executive officer of Portfolio Media, publishers of Law360. "We also believe that exposing our brand to a wider audience of legal professionals will allow us to give more prospective subscribers a sample of the high-quality reporting we do in each of the practice areas we cover daily."

According to Meland, each day the Law360 editorial staff selects five or six articles from the company's large inventory of daily reporting - based on the key criteria of which articles have the biggest impact on business in general and the biggest financial impact in particular - and publishes the entire text of those articles in Top News. The stories are likely to be those regarding major litigation, Congressional legislation and regulatory developments, Supreme Court and Appellate Court decisions, and lawsuits involving large claims.

Law360 publishes 16 daily online newsletters in virtually every major practice area of interest to leading law firms, reporting on emerging news of importance to each practice area and delivering that content to their customers' email inboxes every morning. The company's paid subscriber base for the Law360 newsletters includes 99 of the top 100 law firms, thousands of corporate counsel and virtually every major government enforcement agency.
