(Vocus/PRWEB ) September 13, 2009 -- The Atlanta law firm of Isenberg & Hewitt, P.C. is pleased to announce the continued expansion of its law firm with the addition of Brent J. Kaplan as partner. Mr. Kaplan joins the firm from Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi, LLP, where he served as Managing Partner of the Atlanta office for almost six years.

“We are so pleased Brent decided to make the move from a big firm practice to our litigation boutique,” said Melvin H. Hewitt, Jr., who co-founded the law firm 24 years ago with his wife, Harriet Isenberg. “Both our corporate and individual clients will undoubtedly benefit from his extensive experience.”

Mr. Kaplan is an accomplished litigator with more than 14 reported decisions in cases spanning from Florida to New York. His primary focus has been insurance, complex business litigation and personal injury cases ranging from medical negligence to wrongful death to product liability. Recent examples of his vast experience include: defending a property insurer in a $225 million business interruption dispute for industrial sabotage; handling an eight figure dispute over the scope of damage arising from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne; and securing significant verdicts and settlements in a myriad of personal injury cases.

“The opportunity to work with such skilled litigators as Mel and Harriet, plus the ability to serve a broader range of clients in a smaller firm setting, attracted me to Isenberg & Hewitt,” explained Mr. Kaplan.

He received a B.A., summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 1980, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Kaplan earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia Law School in 1983, where he was a member of The Georgia Law Review.

He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, American Association for Justice, Lawyers Club of Atlanta and Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, for whom he co-authored the “Procedural Points” chapter in its Trial Practice Manual. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and has also been named a “Georgia Super Lawyer” by Atlanta magazine.

Mr. Kaplan’s arrival marks the second addition to Isenberg & Hewitt in the last month. Hilary A. Wayne – an accomplished associate focused on complex business litigation, intellectual property disputes and patent, copyright and trademark infringement – joined the firm in August.
