Small Law Firms Have Advantage During Recession

Attorney Kyle Krull and Marketing CEO Jennifer Campbell teach estate lawyers the marketing and practice management skills needed to survive the recession. The live teleconference is recorded and available free on-demand on the Integrity Marketing Solutions website.

(PRWEB) July 6, 2009 -- The recession has officially arrived for U.S. law firms. Profits are down, even large firms are simply shutting their doors, cutting staff and slashing salaries. Many are calling this recession the "most challenging economic environment" lawyers have ever faced.

Smaller firms have an advantage, though, according to estate attorney Kyle Krull. Krull is a solo practitioner in Overland Park, KS and president of Integrity Marketing Solutions, a marketing agency that specializes in marketing smaller estate and elder law firms.

"The small firm or solo practitioner can be more nimble than the large firm," Krull says. "In a recession, this can be a huge advantage, if the attorneys are savvy enough to recognize market trends and move quickly."

Integrity Marketing specializes in helping attorneys recognize market trends and make strategic adjustments, according to CEO Jennifer Campbell. Krull and Campbell teamed up recently to record a one-hour live teleconference on the topic, "How to Survive the Big Trusts and Estates Shakeout." The recording is now available on-demand from their website.

"Consumers have put the brakes on all unnecessary spending," says Campbell. "Experts predict that recession-induced changes in consumer spending habits, however, are unlikely to change after the economy recovers. This means that attorneys need to respond quickly and effectively with strategies that have a long shelf-life."

Estate attorneys who traditionally relied on referrals from professional financial advisors are particularly vulnerable right now, as clients are expressing their dissatisfaction by walking away from those long-standing relationships.

"People are angry," Krull says. "They are casting about for advice and advisors they can trust. This creates both a challenge and an opportunity for the estate lawyer. With so many advisory relationships in flux, clients are more or less up-for-grabs. They are walking, and they can either walk to your firm, or away from it."

The teleconference focuses on how best to respond to this free-for-all environment, how to bolster key referral relationships with quality financial advisors, while at the same time reaching consumers directly with relevant and engaging marketing messages. The teleconference is free, but registration is required: http://www.estateplanningpartners.com/TeleconferenceJune2009.htm.
