Having already served as President of the East King County Bar Association, President of the Washington State Trial Lawyers' Association (now known as the Washington State Association for Justice) and as a governor on the Board of Governors of the Washington State Bar Association, Attorney Steven G. Toole will accept another opportunity to serve the communities of Washington State during his upcoming three year term as President of the Washington State Bar Association.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 23, 2009 -- Bellevue attorney Steven G. Toole has been elected to serve as the 2010-2011 president of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA). Under association bylaws, Mr. Toole will be sworn in as president at the conclusion of the WSBA annual business meeting in September 2010. He will then serve one term, after first serving a year as president-elect under incoming president Salvador Mungia.

The WSBA is a component of the judicial branch of state government. It is authorized by the Washington State Supreme Court to administer the state bar exam and oversee the licensing of more than thirty-three thousand attorneys in Washington. The WSBA has the dual function of regulating lawyers and providing continuing education opportunities for attorney members. It draws no public funding and operates on a budget supported by membership fees and other fees for services.

Mr. Toole has been licensed to practice law in the State of Washington for more than thirty years. At his solo practice in Bellevue, the Law Office of Steven G. Toole, P.S., he focuses primarily on personal injury litigation. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the justice system and ensuring equal access to justice for all.

His election to this position follows extensive involvement in leadership roles for legal and community organizations throughout the Seattle region. Since his admission to the state bar in 1976, Mr. Toole has actively served in various capacities, including several years as a member of the King County Bar Association's judicial screening committee, a member of the Board of Trustees and president of the East King County Bar Association and the Board of Governors of the Washington State Association for Justice (formerly the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association), where he served as president in 2002 - 2003.

As president of the WSBA, Mr. Toole intends to continue the WSBA's efforts to address the current civil legal aid funding crisis, focus on the WSBA and its leadership being more cognizant of and responsive to the needs of its members and continue the WSBA's commitment to diversity.
